FAITH IS A SUPER NATURAL GIFT FROM GOD ALONE (Acts 16:11-15; John 15:26-27; 16:1-4) HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF THE SIXTH WEEK OF EASTER The catechism of the Catholic church (CCC) tells us that faith is a supernatural gift from God which enables us to believe without doubting whatsoever God has revealed. In the Acts of the Apostles, we are told that “the Lord opened the heart of Lydia to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul” (Acts 16:14) and after her conversion, Lydia requested from Paul by saying “if you judge me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at home, and she prevailed upon us” (Acts 16:15). Beloved in Christ, God is the one who opens the heart of man to receive faith. It is a gift given by God and God alone. It is God's communication of himself to humanity, inviting us to share in his own. Independent of God, Man on his own cannot acquire Faith.
