HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE 6TH WEEK OF EASTER 8TH MAY 2024 Acts 17:15, 22-18:1; Ps.148; John 16:12-15 The Holy Spirit satisfies us! After being set free miraculously from prison together with Silas, Paul continued his missionary endeavour towards the gentiles. He came to Athens and was given the opportunity to speak in the presence of the Athenian philosophers and leaders. Paul observed their religious worship and even though it was not perfect, it served as a starting point for Paul to introduce the God of the Christian Faith to the Athenians. Of all the gods they worshipped, there was one with the inscription “To an unknown god”. Paul did not see the people as totally ignorant; rather he identified their gropings to reach the truth – and the truth is God. They may not know how best to reach this truth, but they did express their desire to reach the truth.
