REFLECTION/HOMILY FOR THURSDAY OF THE 4TH WEEK OF LENT MARCH 2023

Homily for Thursday of the 4th week of Lent  Exodus 32:7-14. Psalm 106:19-20,21-22,23. John 5:31-47. "O Lord, remember us with the favour you show to your to your people" is our Responsorial Psalm today. Moses, in the first reading, pleaded with God for the people of Israel after they made a golden calf and began to worship. God intended to destroy the people of Israel for this sin, but Moses pleaded on their behalf based on all the wonderful things God had done for them. With Moses intercession, God did not punish the people of Israel as He had threatened to do. With Moses' intercession, we see the power of prayer and the mercy of God  that even after God had divorced Israel from himself by calling them "not my people," but "your people," all it takes is the prayer of Moses to restore and renew God's covenant with his people.
