HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF THE 1ST WEEK OF ADVENT

Homily for Friday of the 1st Week of Advent  Isaiah 29:17-24; Matthew 9:27-31. We have it in the prophecy of Isaiah in the First Reading that, "In that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see" (Isa.29:18). Prophet Isaiah speaks of the transformation that will take place at the Lord's coming. This transformation that Prophet Isaiah saw I  the First Reading is reflected in today's through the healing of the two blind men who approached Jesus with faith in today's Gospel. Though they were blind physically but they had spiritual sight which is proved in the way they approached Jesus. They cried out aloud, "Have mercy on us, Son of David" (Matt.9:27). Many had physical sight but did not recognise Jesus as the Son of David. After addressing Jesus as the Son of David, Jesus demands more than their recognition of Him as the "Son of David".
